The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry was dreamed and then planned by director Shaun Perkins in 2011 and opened in September 2012. It is a small and interactive place where people are encouraged to have an experience of poetry.
The museum is open every day from dawn to dusk and is easy to find in rural Locust Grove, in Green Country, the northeastern part of Oklahoma.
One night, Shaun had a dream that was about opening a museum full of poetry machines. This museum is the result of that dream. It is a continual work in progress and is devoted to celebrating poetry for all people.
Shaun can facilitate workshops, museum tours, and poetry readings and other events at the museum.
